City of Ashes: Mortal Instruments 02

City of Ashes - Cassandra Clare Cassandra Clare was born to American parents in Teheran. She has traveled the world as a child and eventually ended up living in LA and New York. She has written various articles for entertainment magazines and tabloids. For more information about her you can visit her website http://www.cassandraclare.com/cms/home.After being introduced to the world of the Shadowhunter, coming with Downworlders and Demons, Clarissa Frey wants to get as far away as possible from them. But having the knowledge she has now it is hard to do so. While she is spending time with her best friend Simon, who turns out not only to be a friend but a possible love interest too, evil is just around the corner. When the second Mortal Instrument, the Soul Sword, is stolen from the Silent city the Inquisitor comes to ask questions. She zooms right on Jace as they expect Valentine to be behind the new murders and stealing the sword. Will she realize in time that Jace is telling the truth and all Shadowhunters are in danger and can Clary help out her brother convincing her?The second book of the Mortal Instruments pretty much takes off where the first book ended. The story and characters don't get introduced no more, if you want to have the details you have to read the first book of the series. It does help the book with the story though, the tone is harder, more adult and the pace of the story is faster. At points I even start to like the book though I am still not convinced it is worth a whole series. The set up of the story is good, it builds up to something big and you can feel it. There are some surprise elements in the book which I had not expected which made it better fun to read. I am going to continue to the third book being curious if the growth is continued.
