Fifty Shades of Grey - E.L. James The authorE L James is a TV executive, wife and mother-of-two based in West London. For more information visit http://www.eljamesauthor.comThe synopsisWhen literature student Anastasia Steele is drafted to interview the successful young entrepreneur Christian Grey for her campus magazine, she finds him attractive, enigmatic and intimidating. Convinced their meeting went badly, she tries to put Grey out of her mind - until he happens to turn up at the out-of-town hardware store where she works part-time. The unworldly, innocent Ana is shocked to realize she wants this man, and when he warns her to keep her distance it only makes her more desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her - but on his own terms. Shocked yet thrilled by Grey's singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success – his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving adoptive family – Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a passionate, physical and daring affair, Ana learns more about her own dark desires, as well as the Christian Grey hidden away from public scrutiny. The reviewI picked this book up out o curiosity. It has been nominated several times in my book clubs for book of the month and has been popping up in my Twitter time line a lot too. There is obviously a lot that can be said about this book and there are a lot of movements surrounding it. You got a group of people refusing to read it cause of the subject. Then there are the people who read it but hate it still and obviously you got the people who love and defend this book cause of several reasons. I decided to give this book a low rating of two stars though I am not sure if it deserves the second star. But as the book kept me reading and I ended up reading the other two books in this series I think 1 star would be unfair. So lets write down my thoughts on this book. The characters, there are two that matter Anastasia and Christian. There are more characters introduced cause you could not possibly write a 500+ pages book about just two characters now can you? Ow yes you can it is called Fifty Shades of Grey. The characters looks are described very well, you get the picture pretty quick that they are both good looking and though one of them is not really aware of that. There are some signs in the book that they got a personality but I honestly would not be able to describe it. But a human being must have one right? There is actually an attempt to make a story out of this book. Though it is easy to miss out on the storyline between all the sex written down in the book. If the sex would have been taken out the book would only have about 100 pages probably but I liked the attempt and honestly I did get curious if they would be able to get over their issues and be happy together. I did have a laugh over the email exchanges. There are a lot of little private jokes in them and that was much appreciated. Besides the story there is sex, a lot of explicit sex. I had heard about this before I picked up the book obviously, it is one of the most important discussion topics on this book but I was still surprised that a book with so much explicit sex is selling so well and discussed so much. I think there could have been a little less of that I prefer a bit more imagination possibilities for the reader. If you ask me whether you should read this book or not I will probably not be able to answer you if I do not know you well. I can imagine people find this book utterly disturbing and are even discussing if this book should be available in libraries and on the middle easy to reach shelf in the bookstore. As said the main part of the book describes sex so if you are looking for a story with a bit more erotica this book is not really a fit either. Are you curious about this book after all the discussions you heard about it make sure you do not pay to much for it because it is not worth your money.
