Remembrance (Transcend Time, #1)

Remembrance (Transcend Time, #1) - Michelle Madow The authorMichelle Madow was inspired to write Remembrance after seeing Taylor Swift's "Love Story" music video while a junior at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. She handed in the first chapter as a homework assignment for class, and when her teacher and fellow classmates wanted her to continue writing, she decided to go for it. Michelle graduated from the Park School of Baltimore in 2005. She graduated from Rollins College in 2010, cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English. At Rollins she was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and a member of the International English Honor Society Sigma Tau Delta. She received the Charles Hyde Pratt Award for Excellence in Creative Writing in 2010. Michelle lives in Florida, where she is hard at work writing more novels for young adults. I expected more of it and maybe that is not fair cause it is the first book of this author but still. First the book has a nice cover which helps a lot. Second the book has an interesting synopsis which also helps a lot but when you start reading it something is missing. The characters are described and given personalities in the most basic way. You get information on their looks and clothing style, music taste and a bit of their character but only when it serves the story. The author sets a clear path on who you should cheer for from the beginning while I like to choose my own couples. The story is nice, predictable and while there is a sense of tension trying to build up it never happens. It feels more like an “and than this happened and that happened” story ruining all the exciting plots before something can really happen or scare people. I was not sure if I would give 2 or 3 stars but I cannot give this book 3 stars if I compare it with the books on that shelf. Still if you are into easy reading light teenage romance stories this might just be it.
