The Night Circus is the debut novel of Erin Morgenstern. The book tells the story of Le Cirque des Reves, a circus that shows up unannounced and is only open during the night. It is not exactly your standard circus either. Instead of you being put in a chair you can wander trough various tents all night where artists perform the most unbelievable shows you have ever seen. What you cannot see is that the circus is the ground of an ancient war and that two young people in love are the pieces fighting this war. This book is true magic. The whole setting of the book is so well done you can imagine being there. From dark and rainy streets in London or Prague to the enchanting environment of the circus. Characters are well described or not for the purpose of the story and you can really get their emotions. The first chapters you get introduced to what is going to happen, but in the end the story keeps surprising you with new turns and twists. The only but I personally found disturbing was the time line of the book, as I read to book on an e-reader it is not so nice to go back to the index all the time to get a grip on that (easier with a hard copy book) If you like those books that pull you in and will not let you go till you know how it ends this book should be on your list.
